Architectural and Structural Specifications for D'Anser Flooring


The floor shall be constructed in modular units. The finished weight of the units shall not exceed 125 lbs per 32 square feet. The units shall interconnect together in any configuration. The interconnect shall utilize no hardware and not decrease the flexiblility at the interconnect point.

The floors shall be of basketweave construction, consisting of a minimum of three layers. Material is to be of grade C select Western White Pine. Maximum structural characteristics shall be Fb=1400 psi Fv=70 psi. Each basketweave layer shall center on adjoining layers as to create a minimum span of 13", resulting in a support load of layer one and three of 141 psf and layer two of 110 psf.

The floor shall have a top covering consisting of first grade C select Long Grain Southern Pine. Minimum structural characteristics of Fb=1400 lbs. and Fv=70 lbs. psi, resulting in a shear load of 516 psf. The top covering shall be milled with tongue and groove assembled with a maximum of 1/16" expansion space between the tongue and groove. The completed top layer shall be ready to accept a vinyl linoleum covering.

The floor shall be fastened together with screws in a manner not to expose any screw heads on the surface. Due to the desired flexibility, fasteners shall be installed to prevent the screws from loosening or backing out. A finished floor unit shall be capable of a distributed load of no more than 50 psf and a point load of 100 psf.

The floor shall require no permanent connection of fastener to any existing surface on which it may be installed.
