CalArts' MFA Writing Program is holding its annual showcase of work by graduating students at the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater (REDCAT) on May 8. The afternoon event, beginning at 3 p.m., is also a celebration of the 10-year anniversary of the MFA Writing Program, which is housed in the CalArts School of Critical Studies.

The showcase features an expansive array of readings and performances. These include recitals of genre-bending fiction and poetry, hybrid works based on cultural theory, an original television pilot, an operatic libretto, a photo essay, a multimedia musical, and digital hyper-text. A reception follows.

The event is free and open to the public. Reservations are recommended, however. They can be made by calling 213 237-2800.
